About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah Martin and I’m here to help you achieve your goals in health and happiness.  As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, wife and mother of two ‘spirited’ children, I’m passionate about helping others transition as we have, to happier, healthier versions of themselves.

Sometimes a nightmare of frightening proportions is a catalyst for change.

My journey to clean living began when our 18 month old son began experimenting with finger foods.  With no family history of allergies, we encouraged him to try a myriad of new flavours.

One morning he developed 3 small spots on his body and by midday he was covered head to toe in a rash which began to turn a deep, dark purple colour.  No less than three trips to our GP that day resulted in a diagnosis of hives, a reaction to perhaps an insect bite or something he’d eaten.

You can imagine our extreme distress at the sight of our baby boy covered in this nasty looking rash, and if that wasn’t enough, over the weeks that followed, the stares and unkind comments we received were heartbreaking.

After numerous visits to an allergy specialist and dietician, undergoing food eliminations and challenges, the verdict was narrowed down to an intolerance of salicylates and artificial colours and flavours. He also suffered from cold urticaria (hives from being wet and cold) and mild skin angioedema (swelling of the skin).

The surprise factor was that although he did have some commonly consumed toddler’s first foods that were certainly not ideal, such as muesli bars, crackers and cocktail sausages – often loaded with artificial colours, flavours and preservatives that our body doesn’t know how to process. He was, and still is, a huge fan of fruit and vegetables, many of which however contain salicylates as a naturally occurring preservative. This is a perfect example of how one person’s food can be another person’s poison and there are many, many children out there whose health, learning and behaviour is affected by food and additives.

Those years are now a blur. Thankfully, once the irritating foods were removed from his diet and we worked on healing the damage to his gut, he has thrived and is now a boisterous nine year old that craves nutritious food and only occasionally reacts to an offending artificial ingredient.

Identifying and removing foods that don’t serve you is pivotal to having your body functioning optimally.

As a holistic health coach it is my passion to help clients make sustainable changes through developing a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work for them.

My Training

I graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and was exposed to over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between.
